Located on Washington Ave. just across the Superior Bridge on the near west side of downtown Cleveland, Saint Malachi Parish is a part of the Catholic Diocese. Their mission states they are Eucharistic People, United in Prayer, Welcoming to All and Serving the Poor.
St. Malachi Parish has historically been providing services to the homeless for decades. St. Malachi’s Back Door Ministry serves a hot nutritious lunch during the week, a hot breakfast on Saturday morning and a simple nourishing supper on Monday evenings from 5-7 p.m. Malachi Center was started by the Parish but is an independent non-profit located on Superior Viaduct behind the Church. Malachi Center provides community and family resources and operates an after-school program and a shower program for the homeless.
Homeless Jesus depicts the basic need for shelter and raises awareness of the homeless population in our community who are in need of care and compassion.
Installed December 2021.
