WESTLAKE, Ohio – Community West Foundation has committed $1 million to Cleveland Clinic as a philanthropic co-investment in the future of Fairview Hospital and the surrounding community. The gift will support the new Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital Health Center and provide lasting recognition for the Moll Cancer Center on the fourth floor of the facility, currently under construction and expected to open in fall 2027.

“Working closely with Cleveland Clinic’s Philanthropy team, representatives of the Jochum-Moll Foundation and members of the Moll family, Community West Foundation shepherded the gift through years of planning and collaboration to ensure it reached the precise charitable purpose envisioned by its original donors,” said Marty Uhle, President and CEO of Community West Foundation.

As one of Ohio’s top hospitals, Fairview Hospital provides world-renowned Cleveland Clinic care close to home. To better meet the growing needs of the community, the expansion will offer enhanced cancer treatment and bring a broad range of specialties together under one roof in a new, state-of-the-art health center. This transformative project will improve access, streamline care and create a more coordinated, convenient experience for patients and their families — ensuring every patient receives the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

“Fairview Hospital is a leading healthcare provider on Cleveland’s west side, serving as a hub for advanced, critically needed care,” said Neil Smith, DO, President of Cleveland Clinic’s West Submarket and Fairview Hospital. “By expanding and modernizing our facilities, we can deliver care that is more efficient, timely and accessible for the patients who rely on us.”

The gift also reflects a shared history of collaboration between Community West Foundation and Cleveland Clinic’s west side hospitals. When Cleveland Clinic acquired Fairview and Lutheran Hospitals in 1997, the hospitals’ supporting foundation became an independent organization and was renamed Community West Foundation. Since then, the Foundation has continued its mission of supporting both the hospitals and the broader western community through strategic philanthropy and responsible stewardship of charitable resources.
