INFOGRAPHIC: Why Socks Are So Important to the Homeless

Posted by Linda Spencer on Mon, Nov 30, 2015

Last January, Community West Foundation launched the SocksPLUS initiative to provide socks, warm clothing and other essentials to Cleveland's homeless.

This effort isn't only about socks, as the "plus" signifies, but warm, dry socks are essential to anyone living on the streets. In fact, they are the item that is most requested by the local shelters and organizations we serve, yet they are donated less frequently than other items.

Why are socks so important?

This infographic explains why.

What can you do to help?

In honor of Giving Tuesday, Community West Foundation is matching dollar for dollar all donations made to our SocksPLUS campaign from now through midnight tomorrow, Dec. 1.

For as little as $10, donors can provide 10 pairs of socks to someone in need. For a few dollars more, donors can provide shoes, boots, warm clothing and other essentials.

These items will help local nonprofit organizations and provide much-needed supplies for the Homeless Stand Down on Jan. 23.

Donate now to double your impact on Giving Tuesday!
