Community West Foundation Awards Over $1 Million in Quarterly Grants
[Westlake, Ohio] – The Community West Foundation Board of Directors approved $820,000 in third quarter grants to non-profit agencies that are located in Cleveland, western Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties. The grants this quarter were focused on the mission areas of mental/physical health programming, services for people with disabilities as well as addiction treatment and recovery programs. An additional $189,000 was distributed through their Community Impact Fund bringing the grand total to $1,009,000. The Community Impact Fund was established for donors who want to invest alongside Community West’s mission knowing that contributions would be distributed directly to grantees quarterly. Organizations receiving grants this quarter include:
 
  • Beck Center for the Arts - support for creative arts therapies for disabled adults and youth
  • Blossom Hill – general operating support for group homes for severely disabled adults
  • Building Hope in the City – funding for affordable housing in the Stockyards neighborhood
  • Carolyn L. Farrell Foundation – funding for programs for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia as well as their caregivers
  • Cleveland Canopy Child Advocacy Center – support for programming for children in crisis
  • Connecting for Kids – supporting services for families with children on the autism spectrum
  • Cornerstone of Hope – grant for grief programming for adults, youth and families
  • Ed Keating Center – support for residential sober living programs
  • Frontline Service – general operating support for mental health crisis services
  • Hispanic UMADAOP – funding for mental health and addiction programs for the Latino community
  • Joseph and Mary’s Home – grant to support housing for homeless men and women in need of medical care
  • LEAP (Linking Employment, Ability, Potential) – general operating support for various programs for disabled adults, particularly employment 
  • LifeAct – grant to support educational/preventive mental health programming for youth
  • Lorain County Free Clinic – support of free medical services for the uninsured
  • Malachi House – general operating support to provide hospice for the dying poor
  • NAMI Greater Cleveland – funding for mental health support groups 
  • Neighborhood Health Care – grant for various health programs, including midwifery
  • Radical Hospitality – funding to support a seasonal shelter for people experiencing homelessness
  • St. Julie Billiart School – supporting special programming for children on the autism spectrum
  • Stella Maris, Inc. – general operating support of addiction services, including detox
  • The Edna House for Women – grant to support residential sober living for women
  • The Lantern Center for Recovery – grant to support residential sober living for men
  • The Turn – support for adaptive physical programming for disabled adults and older youth
  • Urban Community School – funding for a social worker to support students and families
  • Youth Challenge – general operating support of adaptive recreation programs for disabled youth
