Finding Hope and Healing Through Forgiveness
For decades, Community West Foundation has worked to illuminate hope in the community by supporting organizations that provide basic needs services to the least of our brothers and sisters. Join us as we explore forgiveness as a source of hope and healing.
Keynote: Rev. Anthony Thompson – Called to Forgive
Rev. Thompson's wife, Myra, was murdered while leading a Bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston when a white supremacist burst in, killing her and eight more victims. He was notably recognized for publicly forgiving the shooter just days after the tragedy. Find out how his faith led him to forgiveness and healing. Thompson's book about the incident is titled Called to Forgive: The Charleston Church Shooting, a Victim’s Husband, and the Path to Healing and Peace.
Attendees will also hear an update from Community West Foundation leadership and the winner of the David and Martha Hessler Illuminating Hope Award will be announced.
