Sharon and Harry A. Zilli, Jr.
The 2009 Art of Caring Award recipients, Sharon and Harry A. Zilli, Jr., are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community and ongoing philanthropic and charitable work.
Harry has served the Community West Foundation in various ways since 1986 and is now the Chairman of the Grants Committee. Harry has demonstrated great skill and sensitivity to the needs of area nonprofit organizations, allowing the Community West Foundation to make a difference and touch many lives. He has made it a practice of visiting every agency that has applied to the Foundation for funding, and his tireless efforts on behalf of our neighbors in need continue to be an inspiration.
Sharon Zilli, an operating room nurse at Fairview Hospital for 33 years, is known for her professionalism, warmth, and compassionate spirit. Sharon helped to develop the PAWS for Care Program in which the Zillis had three dogs participate. Today, their dog, Poppy, volunteers with Sharon and visits Fairview Hospital and The Kemper House, bringing smiles and a wagging tail to patients and residents. Sharon and Poppy also participate in a program at Bay Village Elementary School whereby the children with special needs read to Poppy to improve their reading skills, making an impact in their young lives.
Through their Donor Advised Fund they make a difference in the community they love. Their creative fundraising offered a matching gift to the parishioners at Christ United Methodist Church for the Parish Nurse Program for many years.
For their compassion, deep commitment, and significant contributions of Time, Talent, and Treasure to their community, we were proud to present Sharon and Harry A. Zilli, Jr. with the 2009 Art of Caring Award.
