Feeding People and Changing Lives

Second Harvest Food Bank is the largest regional hunger relief organization in our area with a network of more than 110 member agencies serving Lorain County as well as Crawford, Erie, and Huron Counties.

They distribute more than 4 million pounds of donated food and grocery products annually, and support nearly 160 programs including food pantries, emergency shelters, and after-school programs.  Emergency food assistance for families in Lorain County increased 14% in 2008 and is expected to have doubled in 2009.

Children represent 42% of those served, and seniors represent 12%. Community West Foundation provided $20,000 to make sure that people in our area, as well as our neighbors in Lorain County, will not go hungry.
