Grant Procedures
Who may apply:
Grant application will be accepted only from organizations which are qualified as tax exempt and charitable entities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Funding will be limited to organizations located in Greater Western Cleveland, usually for one year only, and no funding is available for capital needs, endowments or individuals.
Initiate the grant application with a letter to:

The letter should be single spaced and not more than 2 pages.
Specific emphasis should be placed on how an identified community need will be met through the program for which funding is being requested.
The letter should contain:
- A brief history of the organization
- The project's goals
- The financing of the project
- Program or services to be supported by the grant
Application:
The proposals selected for further consideration will require the completion of an application form, as well as the documents identified below.
The process may also require interviews with project leadership by the staff and/or board representatives of the Community West Foundation.
Budget:
A well defined budget will be required for all grant proposals, with the intended use of Foundation funds being clearly identified. In addition, the aims and goals of the project, program or service must be set out specifically along with the methods that will be used to judge how effectively those goals and aims are met.
Project Leader:
A project leader must be identified in all requests for support. This individual will be the one designated to fulfill all reporting requirements in connection with grants awarded by the Community West Foundation.
Reporting:
Interim and final reports on the use of a Foundation grant to support a project, program, or service must be completed by the project leaders and submitted to the Foundation for evaluation purposes. No further grants will be made to any organization which fails to submit the required reports.
Public Announcements:
Any public announcement by an agency of a Foundation grant must be approved by the Foundation President prior to its release. Similarly, the use of the Foundation's name in annual reports, news releases or other communications designed for wide public dissemination should be cleared with the President prior to use in writing.
